Description
Kačerov Depot was the first depot of the Prague metro, opened in 1974. It mainly serves line C and is a key workshop and stabling point for modern metro trains. A rail connection also lets cars leave the metro network.
Heart of line C
Kačerov Depot is a technical centre for test runs, staff training and preparing the fleet. Built for the original Soviet trains, it now also serves modern M1 sets.
Depot grounds
The depot is in Prague 4 and covers about 13 hectares. A four-hall complex of more than 30,000 m² can hold up to 185 cars. Besides stabling and washing tracks there are repair halls, workshops, a compressor station and a fire unit. A siding to Praha-Krč links the metro with the main-line railway.
Depot upgrades
Over the years the depot was modernized several times, including for the arrival of M1 trains. Work covered insulation, track reconstruction, air lines and lighting. It remains the home of line C. (https://cs.wikipedia.org)
