Description
Střešovice Depot is a historic Prague public-transport site. Since 1993 it has housed the Public Transport Museum. It stands on the edge of Střešovice and Hradčany and is a technical monument of the capital, a hub of heritage tram lines and a popular outing.
Depot history
The depot opened in 1909 as one of the first modern sheds of Prague’s electric tramways. It followed a standard three-nave hall plan with room for up to 129 trams. In the later 20th century there were plans to close it, but it found a new role as a museum.
Public Transport Museum
Since 1993 the depot has housed the Public Transport Museum, with dozens of historic trams, buses and metro cars. The exhibition is open on summer weekends, with open days on special occasions. The depot is also the starting point of heritage tram lines. (Photo: https://cs.wikipedia.org/)
